What began in our kitchen in Yorkshire with handmade soaps and scented candles has evolved into a small artisan business with common values and goals. Sustainability, individual expression in each product and pride in our products and company has allowed us to grow into a dedicated bigger space with a small team
It has been a great first 6 months for the Cliffe House Organics. The response has been overwhelming. Our handmade natural candles are available in 5 styles, each one hand crafted and hand poured using soy wax, but that’s only part of it. Each scented candle begins with a concept for the finished product, concept being the scent and the look. We use the finest essential oils as the base for the scent, mixing the oils in the same method as soaps and diffusers to create a unique smell and mix of top, mid and base notes. As essential oils burn quickly we “fix” the scent with a percentage of complementary fragrance. Mixing multiple scents to make a custom blend is an art in itself.
The “look” and individual expression comes from the “motifs” we hand make for the top of the soy candle. Whether it is coffee beans for the Cooks Kitchen, sea shells for Land & Sea or an orange and leaf for Shea Orange, each design is hand made using soy wax, handmade moulds and natural botanicals to achieve colour.
Sustainability is at the core of the process. The soy wax we use is 100% GM free and no pesticides or herbicides are used at any stage in its cultivation. Soya beans are, of course, a renewable source and the wax is naturally bio-degradable, so it is really is an eco-friendly product. Soy also holds fragrances better and for longer making your candle smell for longer. The wicks are 100% natural and made specifically for eco-friendly soy wax. The containers we use are recyclable and easily transformed into useful containers (soy wax being natural is easily removed using soap and hot water)
